چکیده

The preparat ion of a specific antiserum (anti-CaBP) against the calcium-binding protein (CaBP) of the chorioaUantoic membrane ( C A M ) is described. The antiC a B P appeared to be specific for the C a B P by immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis. Applicat ion of the ant i -CaBP in immunofluorescence histochemistry revealed that the C a B P is present in the C A M only at developmental ages corresponding with the expression of the calcium transport function of the membrane . Fur thermore , the CaBP is localized to the ec toderm of the C A M , appears to be exposed to the entire external surface of the ec toderm, and can be shown to be associated with cells enzymatically dissociated from the C A M . These results are consistent with a functional role of the CaBP in the C A M calcium

Glutamine synthetase localization in cortisol-induced chick embryo retinas

We report here for the first time, in chick retina, Muller cell localization of glutamine synthetase (GS) activity by an immunohistochemical technique, in agreement with previous reports of glial localization of this enzyme in rat brain and retina. Age-dependent changes in the endogenous enzyme activity as well as cortisol-induced changes in GS activity, both in ovo and in vitro, measured bioch...

Immunohistochemical Localization of Ghrelin in Testicular Tissues of Holstein Bulls

Ghrelin, a 28-amino acid acylated peptide, was identified as the endogenous ligand for the growth hormone (GH) secretagogue receptor and its role in reproduction has recently been established. It is believed that the site of ghrelin expression in testes may indicate its role in local regulation. This study investigated the immunohistochemical (IHC) localization of ghrelin in Holstein bull testi...

Basic fibroblast growth factor in the chick embryo: immunolocalization to striated muscle cells and their precursors

The identification of acidic and basic fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) in a number of embryonic tissue extracts has implicated these growth factors in the regulation of a variety of embryonic events including angiogenesis, eye development, and muscle differentiation. Lack of information concerning the cellular distribution of the growth factor within these tissues has made it extremely difficu...

Examination of the immunohistochemical localization and gene expression by RT-PCR of the oxytocin receptor in diabetic and non-diabetic mouse testis

Objective(s): The aim of this study was to determine Oxytocin receptor (OTR) gene expression and localization in diabetic and non-diabetic mouse testes by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Materials and Methods: In this study, 18 male BALB/c mice (8–12 weeks old) were used and divided into three groups: diabetic, sham, and control. Streptozotocin (STZ) was applied to the diabetic g...

Immunohistochemical localization of netrin-1 in the embryonic chick nervous system.

Netrin-1 has profound in vitro effects on the growth properties of vertebrate embryonic axons. In addition, netrin-1 mRNA is found in the floor plate of the embryonic nervous system, an intermediate target of many axons, including commissural axons that are affected by netrin-1 in vitro. Moreover, genetic studies of netrin-1 homologs in Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila implicate these prot...
